Safeguarding
Mullion SLSC operate within the strict guidelines of the SLSGB policy and training standard. SLSGB state that all sessions must by led by a lifeguard and at least one Level 2 coach. Also that all coaches have undertaken safeguarding training, are DBS checked and have read and signed the safeguarding training policy. SLSGB also expect all Level 2 coaches and the safeguarding officers to attend the NSPCC Time to Listen course.
Safeguarding has a number of elements to it such as:
-
how we, as coaches behave with the children
-
the reporting process that must be followed should any child welfare concerns come to light
-
keeping a child safe from harm during a session
-
protecting them in transit (to and from a session)
-
ensuring they go home with an approved adult
-
that coaches are DBS checked
-
protecting vulnerable children and adults
-
offering equal opportunities
-
preventing compromising situations
-
child to adult ratio
This is to name but a few. For full details on our safeguarding policy please see our documents page and our beach safety page.
